Sidestream or Sidestream Plus?

When customers are considering purchasing the Philips Respironics nebuliser, one of the most common questions asked is “What is the difference between the Sidestream and the Sidestream Plus?” ( The New Generation of Ventstream)
The new Innospire Deluxe compressor is the same for both, the Sidestream/Sidestream Plus refers only to the medication chamber. You can view the Philips nebulisers by clicking HERE
You would choose the Sidestream for saline and all commonly prescribed bronchodilators such as Salbutamol, Atrovent, etc. and it is suitable for use with both a facemask and a mouthpiece and can be seen by clicking HERE
The Sidestream Plus is primarily for steroids such as Budesonide, and also inhaled antibiotics as well as bronchodilators. It is designed to be used with a mouthpiece as it responds to your breathing pattern which means you get more drug when breathing in and waste less on breathing out. It is also supplied with a vent hose or filter kit which protects other members of your family from breathing in your medication. You can find the Sidestream Plus by clicking HERE
We hope this helps to make things a little clearer for those of you who are unfamiliar with nebulisers but if you have any questions please feel free to post a comment below. Don’t forget you can also email by clicking HERE us or call us on 01942 701210. You can read more about the Sidestream Plus or the alternative LC Sprint on our website by clicking HERE and there is lots of information for you throughout the clickable red links in this blog
